DISCOVERING DIVINE DESIGNS

 

“I being in the way, the Lord led me….”

                            Genesis 24:27

 

We have to be so one with God that we do not continually need to ask for guidance. Sanctification means that we are made the children of God, and the natural life of a child is obedience-until he wishes to be disobedient, then instantly there is the intuitive jar. In the spiritual domain the intuitive jar is the monition of the Spirit of God. When He gives the check, we have to stop at once and be renewed in the spirit of or mind in order to make out what God’s will is. If we are born again of the Spirit of God, it is the abortion of piety to ask God to guide us here and there. “The Lord led me,” and on looking back we see the presence of an amazing design, which, if we are born of God, we will credit to God.

We can all see God in exceptional things, but it requires the culture of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never allow that the haphazard is anything less than God’s appointed order, and be ready to discover the Divine designs anywhere.

Beware of making a fetish of consistency to your convictions instead of being devoted to God. I shall never do that-in all probability you will have to, if you are the saint. There never was a more inconsistent Being on this earth than Our Lord, but He was never inconsistent to His Father. The one consistency of the saint is not to a principle, but to the Divine life. It is the Divine life which continually makes more and more discoveries about the Divine mind. It is easier to be a fanatic than a faithful soul, because there is something amazingly humbling, particularly to our religious conceit, in being loyal to God.

 

 

Whoso is wise,…even they shall understand the loving kindness of

the Lord. Lord, that would be beautiful! Give me this token for Thy

glory. Unto Thee do I look for this day; cause the abundance of Thy

bounty and beauty to be upon us.

하나님의 계획을 발견하기

 

“여호와께서 길에서 나를 인도하사”

                                                                                                        창세기 24:27

 

주님께 인도해 달라고 우리가 계속적으로 간구할 필요가 없도록 하기 위해서 우리는 하나님과 하나로 일치되어야 합니다. 성화(聖化)는 우리가 하나님의 어린이들이 되었다는 뜻이며, 어린이의 자연스런 생활은 불순종 하기를 원할 때까지는 순종하는 것입니다. 그 다음에는 즉시 직관적인 불협화음이 생깁니다. 영적인 영역에 있어서 이러한 직관적 불협화음은 성령 하나님의 경고입니다. 이와 같이 성령께서 제동을 거시는 때에는 당장 멈추고 우리의 영을 새롭게 하여 하나님의 뜻을 분별해야 합니다. 만일 우리가 성령으로 거듭난다면 주님께 이렇게 저렇게 나를 인도하여 달라고 요구하는 것은 경건의 실패입니다. “주님께서 나를 인도하사,” 그리고 지난 날을 돌아보면 놀라운 섭리가 있었던 것을 우리가 알게 됩니다. 우리가 만일 하나님으로부터 태어난다면 그 놀라운 섭리로 인하여 우리는 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 것입니다.

우리는 모두 예외적인 사건들 가운데서 하나님을 볼 수 있습니다. 그러나 모든 상세한 일들 속에서 하나님을 보려면 영적 훈련이 필요합니다. 절대로 우연하게 발생하는 일들이라고 하여 하나님의 섭리에서 벗어나는 것으로 가볍게 보지 마십시오. 어디서나 하나님의 계획을 발견할 준비를 하십시오.

하나님께 헌신하는 것 대신에 맹목적인 숭배라 할 정도로 당신의 신념에 집착하는 것을 조심하십시오. 나는 절대로 그 일을 하지 않을 거야 라고 말하지만 아마도 그것은 당신이 성도라면 해야만 하는 일일 것입니다. 세상의 눈으로 볼 때 우리 주님은 이 지구상에서 어느 누구보다 모순된 존재였습니다. 그러나 주님은 그의 아버지에게는 일치되지 않은 적이 없었습니다. 성도의 하나의 일관성은 원칙에 관한 것이 아니고, 신령한 생명에 관한 것입니다. 하나님의 마음에 관하여 더욱 많은 발견들을 끊임없이 해나가는 것이 신령한 생명입니다. 주님께 충성하기 보다 자신의 확신에 사로잡히는 광신도가 되는 것이 더 쉽습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님께 충성함에 있어서는 놀라울 정도로 우리를 낮추는 무엇인가, 특히 우리의 종교적 자만심에 제동을 거는 일들이 있기 때문입니다.

 

 

지혜로운 자는 누구나 주님의 사랑하는 자비를 이해하게 될 것입니다. 주님, 그건 얼마나 아름다운 것인지요! 주님의 영광을 위하여 이 증거를 제게 주시옵소서. 제가 주님을 바라보며 이 날을 구합니다. 주님의 아름다움과 은혜를 우리에게 충만하게 부어주시옵소서.
