ABOUT HIS WAYS

 

“When Jesus had made an end of commanding His disciples,

                              He departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.”

                                                                Matthew 11:1.

 

He comes where He commands us to leave. If when God said “Go,” you stayed, because you were so concerned about your people at home, you robbed them of the teaching and preaching of Jesus Christ Himself. When you obeyed and left all consequences to God, the Lord went into your city to teach; as long as you would not obey, you were in the way. Watch where you begin to debate and to put what you call duty in competition with your Lord’s commands. “I know God told me to go, but then my duty was here” that means you do not believe that Jesus means what He says.

He teaches where He instructs us not to.

“Master, . . . let us make three tabernacles.”

Are we playing the spiritual amateur providence in other lives? Are we so noisy in our instruction of others that God cannot get anywhere near them? We have to keep our mouths shut and our spirits alert. God wants to instruct us in regard to His Son, He wants to turn our times of prayer into mounts of transfiguration, and we will not let Him. When we are certain of the way God is going to work, He will never work in that way any more.

He works where He sends us to wait.

“Tarry ye. . . until. . .”

Wait on God and He will work, but don’t wait in spiritual sulks because you cannot see an inch in front of you! Are we detached enough from our own spiritual hysterics to wait on God? To wait is not to sit with folded hands, but to learn to do what we are told.

These are phases of His ways we rarely recognize.

 

Lord, the present condition presses most on my consciousness this

morning. Cause my mind, my emotions, my whole nature, to want what

Thou hast ordained for me, that thereby I may know I have done aright.

주님의 방법들에 대한 추가 묵상

“예수께서 열두 제자에게 명하기를 마치시고 이에 그들의 여러

                                 동네에서 가르치시며 전도하시려고 거기를 떠나 가시니라.”

마태복음 11:1

 

우리보고 떠나라고 지시하신 곳으로 주님께서 오십니다. 하나님께서 “가라”고 말씀하실 때 만약 집에 있는 당신 가족들이 염려되어 그대로 머문다면 예수 그리스도 자신의 가르침과 전파된 복음을 당신이 그들로부터 강탈하는 것입니다. 당신이 순종하고 모든 결과를 하나님께 맡겼을 때 주님께서 여러분의 동네로 들어가셔서 가르치셨습니다. 당신이 순종하려고 하지 않는 한 당신은 방해가 되는 것입니다. 논쟁하여 소위 의무라는 것을 당신의 주님의 지시사항들에 어울리지 않는 곳에 당신이 두기 시작하는 곳을 경계하십시오. “주님께서 내게 가라고 이르신 것을 알고 있습니다. 그렇지만 나의 의무는 여기에 있었습니다.”라고 말하는 것은 예수님께서 이르시는 말씀의 뜻을 당신이 믿지 못함을 의미합니다.

우리에게 하지 말라고 지시하시는 곳에서 주님께서 가르치십니다.

“주님, … 우리가 초막 셋을 짓게 하옵소서.”(눅 9:33)

다른 사람들의 삶 가운데 우리가 영적 섭리에 대한 아마추어 역할을 하고 있습니까? 하나님께서 그들 가까이 접근하실 수 없을 정도로 우리가 다른 사람들의 일에 너무 시끄럽게 간섭하고 있습니까? 우리는 입을 다물고 영적으로 깨어 있어야 합니다. 하나님께서 그분의 독생자에 관해서 우리에게 지시하고 싶어하시고, 우리 기도시간을 변화산 상의 것으로 바꾸기 원하십니다. 그런데 우리는 그렇게 하시도록 놔두지 않을 것입니다. 하나님께서 역사하실 예정인 방법을 우리가 확신할 때 주님께서는 그 방법으로 더 이상 역사하시지 않을 것입니다.

주님께서는 기다리라고 우리를 보내시는 곳에서 역사하십니다.

“…때까지 너희는 기다리라.”

하나님을 기다리십시오. 그러면 주님께서 역사하실 것입니다. 그러나 영적인 불만 상태에서 기다리지 마십시오. 왜냐하면 당신은 한치 앞을 내다볼 수 없기 때문입니다!  우리 자신의 영적 히스테리에서 충분히 벗어나 우리가 하나님을 계속 기다리고 있습니까? 기다린다는 것은 팔짱 끼고 앉아 있는 것이 아닙니다. 우리가 지시 받은 것을 행하도록 학습하는 것입니다.

이러한 것들이 우리가 좀처럼 인정하지 않는 주님의 방법들의 단계입니다.

 

주님, 현재의 건강 상태가 오늘 아침 제 의식을 심하게 압박합니다.

제 마음, 정서, 본성의 전부로 하여금 주님께서 명령하신 것을 열망

하도록 함으로써 제가 올바르게 실행하였음을 제가 알게 하옵소서.
