WHAT TO PRAY FOR

“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

                                                                                                                 Luke 18:1

                                                  

   You cannot intercede if you do not believe in the reality of the Redemption; you will turn intercession into futile sympathy with human beings which will only increase their submissive content to being out of touch with God. In intercession you bring the person, or the circumstance that impinges on you before God until you are moved by His attitude towards that person or circumstance. Intercession means filling up “that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ,” and that is why there are so few intercessors. Intercession is put on the line of-“Put yourself in his place.” Never! Try to put yourself in God’s place.

   As a worker, be careful to keep pace with the communications of of reality from God or you will be crushed. If you know too much, more than God has engineered for you to know, you cannot pray, the condition of the people is so crushing that you cannot get through to reality.

   Our work lies in coming into definite contact with God about everything, and we shirk it by becoming active workers. We do the things that can be tabulated but we will not intercede. Intercession is the one thing that has no snares, because it keeps our relationship with God completely open.

   The thing to watch in intercession is that no soul is patched up; a soul must get through into contact with the life of God. Think of the number of souls God has brought about our path and we have dropped them! When we pray on the ground of Redemption, God creates something He can create in no other way than through intercessory prayer.

 

Lord, lift me up to Thee so that the bloom, the

radiant joy of Thy salvation, visits me and shines forth

for Thy glory. Keep me in flowing intercession with Thee.

                 누가복음 18:1

 

만일 당신이 구속의 실체를 믿지 않는다면 당신은 중보기도를 할 수 없습니다. 당신은 중보기도가 사람들에 대한 무익한 동정심으로 바뀌게 할 것입니다. 이러한 중보기도는 하나님과의 접촉 없는 상태에 대한 사람들의 공손한 만족을 증가시키기만 할 것입니다. 중보기도란 당신의 기도 대상 또는 상황에 대한 하나님의 태도가 당신을 감동시킬 때까지 당신의 마음에 부딪히는 사람 또는 상황에 대해 하나님 앞에서 당신이 간구하는 것입니다. 중보기도는 “그리스도의 남은 고난을 그의 몸 된 교회를 위하여 내 육체에” 채우는 것(골 1:24)을 의미합니다. 그 점이 바로 중보기도 하는 자들의 수가 매우 적은 이유입니다. 중보기도는 “당신 자신을 그 사람의 입장에 놓고” 기도하는 것이라고 말합니다. 절대 그렇지 않습니다! 당신 자신을 하나님의 입장에 놓도록 노력하십시오.

한 사역자의 입장에서, 하나님과의 실제적인 교통 가운데 계속 머물러 있도록 조심하십시오. 그렇지 않으면 당신은 파멸할 것입니다. 만일 하나님께서 당신이 알도록 섭리하신 것 이상으로 당신이 너무 많이 알고 있으면 당신은 기도할 수 없습니다. 사람들의 사정이 너무 난감하기 때문에 당신은 실제로 중보기도를 할 수가 없습니다.

우리의 사역은 모든 것에 관해서 하나님과의 확실한 관계를 유지하고 있는 데 있습니다. 그런데 우리는 가만히 있지 않고 동분서주하는 활동적인 사역자들이 됨으로써 하나님과의 확실한 접촉을 게을리합니다. 우리는 도표화할 수 있는 일들은 하지만 중보기도는 하지 않을 것입니다. 중보기도에는 함정이 없습니다. 중보기도는 하나님과 우리의 관계를 완전히 열어놓기 때문입니다.

중보기도에서 주의할 점은 어떠한 영혼도 급히 이어 맞추어 임시변통으로 통하지 않는다는 사실입니다. 한 영혼이 하나님의 생명과 접촉하지 않으면 안 됩니다. 하나님이 우리의 인생 길에 데려오신 영혼들의 숫자와 그들을 우리가 무심하게 지나친 것을 생각해 보십시오! 우리가 예수 그리스도의 구속(救贖)을 근거로 하여 기도할 때 중보기도를 통하지 않는 다른 방법으로는 불가능한 무엇인가를 하나님이 창조하십니다.

 

주님, 저를 주님께 끌어올리시어 주님의 구원이 빚어내는 아름다움과

빛나는 기쁨이 저를 감싸고 주님의 영광을 위해 밝게 빛나게 하옵소서.

주님과 충만한 중보기도 안에 있도록 저를 붙들어 주시옵소서.

12월 13일
