PARTAKE IN THE ATONEMENT?

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,

            by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”

Galatians 6:14

 

   The gospel of Jesus Christ always forces an issue of will. Do I accept God’s verdict on sin in the Cross of Christ? Have I the slightest interest in the death of Jesus? Do I want to be identified with His death, to be killed right out to all interest in sin, in worldliness, in self-to be so identified with Jesus that I am spoilt for everything else but Him? The great privilege of discipleship is that I can sign on under His Cross, and that means death to sin. Get alone with Jesus and either tell Him that you do not want sin to die out in you; or else tell Him that at all costs you want to be identified with His death. Immediately you transact in confident faith in what Our Lord did on the Cross, a supernatural identification with His death takes place, and you will know with a knowledge that passeth knowledge that your “old man” is crucified with Christ. The proof that your old man is crucified with Christ is the amazing ease with which the life of God in you enables you to obey the voice of Jesus Christ.

   Every now and again, Our Lord lets us see what we would be like if it were not for Himself; it is a justification of what He said-“Without Me ye can do nothing.” That is why the bedrock of Christianity is personal, passionate devotion to the Lord Jesus. We mistake the ecstasy of our first introduction into the Kingdom for the purpose of God in getting us there; His purpose in getting us there is that we may realize all that identification with Jesus Christ means.

 

        O Lord, I do praise Thee that Thou art, and that by

Thy Divine omnipotent grace I am learning to come

into Thy presence. Touch my body and spirit with

Thy grace and light and wisdom; bright and vivid make

Thy touches.

속죄에 인격적으로 동참할 수 있는 방법

“그러나 내게는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 십자가 외에 결코

                  자랑할 것이 없으니 그리스도로 말미암아 세상이 나를 대하여

                  십자가에 못 박히고 내가 또한 세상을 대하여 그러하니라.”

                                                                                                          갈라디아서6:14

 

예수 그리스도의 복음은 의지의 문제를 어쩔 수 없이 항상 제기하게 됩니다. 그리스도의 십자가를 통한 하나님의 죄에 대한 심판을 내가 받아들이는가?  예수님의 죽음에 대해서 내가 조금이라도 관심이 있는가? 예수님의 죽음에 연합되어 죄와 세상적인 것과 자신에 관한 모든 관심에 대해 자신이 죽어지기를 원하는가? 즉, ‘예수님과 연합됨으로써 예수님을 제외한 다른 모든 것에 대해서는 내가 죽임을 당하기를 원하는가?’ 제자의 큰 특권은 주님의 십자가 아래서 내가 서명을 할 수 있다는 것입니다. 그것은 죄에 대한 죽음을 의미합니다. 예수님과 홀로 만나 당신 안에 있는 죄가 죽어 사라지는 것을 당신 원하지 않는다고 말씀 드리던가 그렇지 않으면 어떠한 희생을 치르더라도 당신이 주님의 죽음에 연합되기를 원한다고 말씀 드리십시오. 그러면 우리 주님이 십자가에서 이루신 것에 대해 확신하는 믿음으로 당장 당신은 하나님과 화해하여 예수님의 죽음과 초자연적 연합이 일어납니다. 그리고 나서 당신의 “옛 사람”은 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌다는 지식을 전하는 지식으로 알게 될 것입니다. 당신의 옛 사람이 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌다는 증거는 당신 속에 있는 하나님의 생명이 당신으로 하여금 예수 그리스도의 음성에 놀라울 정도로 쉽게 복종하는 것을 가능하게 하는 점입니다.

주님은 때때로 만일 주님이 없다면 우리가 무엇을 닮을 것인가를 우리가 보게 하십니다. 그것은 “나를 떠나서는 너희가 아무 것도 할 수 없음이라.” (요 15:5) 고 주님이 말씀하신 것이 정당하다는 증거입니다. 바로 그 점이 기독교의 근거는 주 예수님에 대한 인격적이고 열정적인 헌신이라는 이유인 것입니다. 우리는 처음으로 우리가 천국으로 인도될 때의 황홀 상태와 우리를 천국으로 인도하시는 하나님의 목적을 혼동합니다. 우리를 천국으로 인도하시는 하나님의 목적은 예수 그리스도와의 연합이 의미하는 모든 것을 우리가 깨닫게 하는 것입니다.

 

   오오 주님, 주님이 계신다는 사실로 인해, 그리고 주님의

신성한 전능한 은혜로 인해 제가 주님의 현존 속으로 나아가게

됨을 알게 됨으로써 주님을 제가 찬양합니다. 제 몸과 영을

주님의 은총과 광채와 지혜로 만져주시옵소서. 주님의 만짐이

선명하게 밝게 빛나게 하옵소서.
