EXPERIENCE OR REVELATION

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;

        that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

                                                                                                                         1 Corinthians 2:12

 

   Reality is Redemption, not my experience of Redemption; but Redemption has no meaning for me until it speaks the language of my conscious life. When I am born again, the Spirit of God takes me right out of myself and my experiences, and identifies me with Jesus Christ. If I am left with my experiences, my experiences have not been produced by Redemption. The proof that they are produced by Redemption is that I am led out of myself all thee time, I no longer pay any attention to my experiences as the ground of Reality, but only to the Reality which produced the experiences. My experiences are not worth anything unless they keep me at the Source, Jesus Christ.

   If you try to dam up the Holy Spirit in you to produce subjective experiences, you will find that he will burst all bounds and take you back again to the historic Christ. Never nourish an experience which has not God as its source and faith in God as its result. If you do, your experience is anti-Christian, no matter what visions you may have had. Is Jesus Christ Lord of your experiences, or do you try to lord it over Him? Is any experience dearer to you than your Lord? He must be Lord over you, and you must not pay attention to any experience over which He is not Lord. There comes a time when God will make you impatient with your own experience-I do not care what I experience; I am sure of Him.

   Be ruthless with yourself if you are given to talking about the experiences you have had. Faith that is sure of itself is not faith; faith that is sure God is the only faith there is.

 

        O Lord, remove this bondage of thought, and bring

peace and purity and power. Fill me this day with Thy

tenderness and compassion and grace.

체험 또는 계시

“우리가 세상의 영을 받지 아니하고 오직 하나님으로부터 온 영을 받았으니 이는

             우리로 하여금 하나님께서 우리에게 은혜로 주신 것들을 알게 하려 하심이라.”

                                                                                                               고린도전서 2:12

 

실체는 예수 그리스도의 십자가에 죽으심을 통한 구속이지 구속에 대한 나의 체험이 아닙니다. 구속이 나의 의식적인 생명의 언어를 말할 때까지는 구속이 나에게 아무런 의미가 없습니다. 내가 거듭날 때 성령께서 나를 내 자신과 나의 체험으로부터 꺼내셔서 나를 예수 그리스도와 연합시키십니다. 만일 내가 나의 체험과 함께 그대로 남아 있는다면 나의 체험은 구속에 의해서 이루어진 것이 아닙니다. 나의 체험들이 구속에 의해서 이루어진다는 증거는 항상 내가 내 자신 밖으로 인도되어서 실체의 근거로서 내가 더 이상 나의 체험들에 주의를 기울이지 않고 그 체험들을 이루어낸 실체에게만 관심을 쏟는 것입니다. 나의 체험들은 체험의 원천인 예수 그리스도에 연합된 상태로 나를 계속 붙들어두지 않는다면 아무런 가치가 없습니다.

만일 당신이 주관적인 체험들을 생산하기 위해서 당신 속에 내재하시는 성령을 둑으로 막아 저지하려고 시도한다면 성령께서는 둑의 모든 경계를 터뜨려서 당신을 역사적 인물인 그리스도에게 다시 데리고 가실 것임을 당신이 깨닫게 될 것입니다. 하나님이 생산의 원천으로서 또 하나님에 대한 믿음이 그 결과로서 결여된 어떤 체험에 결코 미련을 두지 마십시오. 만일 당신이 그렇게 한다면, 당신이 설사 어떤 비전들을 가졌다 하더라도, 당신의 체험은 기독교를 반대하는 것입니다. 예수 그리스도가 당신 체험들의 주인이십니까, 그렇지 않으면 당신이 주님을 제치고 주인 노릇을 하고자 하십니까? 어떤 체험이 당신의 주님보다 당신에게 더 소중합니까? 주님이 당신을 다스리는 주인이 되셔야 합니다. 그리고 당신은 주님이 주인이 아닌 어떤 체험에 주의를 기울여서는 안 됩니다. “내가 무엇을 체험하든 상관없다.’ 라고 말할 정도로 당신 자신의 체험에 견디지 못하게끔 하나님께서 당신을 만드실 때가 옵니다. 그러고 나서 나는 주님을 확신한다는 자기 고백이 나옵니다.

만일 당신이 이미 가진 체험들에 대해서 말할 기회가 당신에게 주어진다면 당신 자신에게 잔인 하십시오. 저절로 확신하는 믿음은 믿음이 아닙니다. 하나님을 확신하는 믿음이 이 세상에 존재하는 유일한 믿음입니다.

 

   오오 주님, 생각에 갇혀 있는 이 구속을 제거해주시고 평화와

청결함과 능력을 부어주시옵소서. 오늘 주님의 다정함과 동정과

은총으로 저를 충만하게 하옵소서.
