THE GLORY THAT EXCELS

“The Lord . . . hath sent me that thou mightest receive thy sight.”

Acts 9:17

When Paul received his sight he received spiritually an insight into the Person of Jesus Christ, and the whole of his subsequent life and preaching was nothing but Jesus Christ—“I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” No attraction was ever allowed to hold the mind and soul of Paul save the face of Jesus Christ.

We have to learn to maintain an unimpaired state of character up to the last notch revealed in the vision of Jesus Christ.

The abiding characteristic of a spiritual man is the interpretation of the Lord Jesus Christ to himself, and the interpretation to others of the purposes of God. The one concentrated passion of the life is Jesus Christ. Whenever you meet this note in a man, you feel he is a man after God’s own heart.

Never allow anything to deflect you from insight into Jesus Christ. It is the test of whether you are spiritual or not. To be unspiritual means that other things have a growing fascination for you.

Since mine eyes have looked on Jesus,

I’ve lost sight of all beside,

So enchained my spirit’s vision,

Gazing on the Crucified.

 

     O Lord my God, my strength, my hope, and my joy, slowly but

surely I seem to be emerging into a clearer discernment of Thee.

Dawn through all earth-born clouds and mists today.

탁월한 영광

“주 예수께서 나를 보내어 너로 다시 보게 하시고.”

사도행전 9:17

 

바울이 시력을 회복 받았을 때 바울은 영적으로 예수 그리스도의 인격체에 대한 통찰력을 받았습니다. 그리하여 그 후 바울의 생애 전부와 설교는 오로지 예수 그리스도에게만 집중되었으므로 “내가 너희 중에서 예수 그리스도와 그가 십자가에 못 박히신 것 외에는 아무 것도 알지 아니하기로 작정하였음이라”(고전 2:2)라고 말했던 것입니다. 예수 그리스도의 얼굴 외에는 어떠한 매력도 바울의 마음과 영혼을 사로잡도록 허용된 적이 없었습니다.

우리는 예수 그리스도의 비전에서 계시된 손상되지 않은 상태의 성품을 마지막 한계의 눈금까지 유지하는 방법을 배워야 합니다.

영으로 사는 사람의 변함없는 특징은 주 예수 그리스도를 자신에게 연출하고 다른 사람들에게 하나님의 목적을 연출하는 것입니다. 생애에서 집중된 하나의 열정은 예수 그리스도입니다. 어떤 사람 가운데서 이런 특징을 당신이 만날 때는 언제든지 그 사람이 하나님의 마음을 닮은 사람이라는 것을 당신은 느낍니다.

어떠한 것도 당신으로 하여금 예수 그리스도에 대한 통찰력으로부터 빗나가게 하도록 놔두지 마십시오. 그것은 당신이 영적인지 아닌지를 가름하는 테스트입니다. 영적이 아니라는 것은 다른 것들이 당신에게 점차 매력이 되어가고 있다는 의미입니다.

      나의 눈은 예수님을 계속 바라봤으므로,

         그 외의 모든 것에 대한 시력을 잃어버렸고.

      나의 영의 비전이 그렇게 사슬로 묶어,

         십자가에 못 박히신 예수 그리스도를 바라보고 있네.

 

    오오 주 나의 하나님, 나의 힘, 나의 소망, 그리고 나의 기쁨, 천천히

그러나 확실히 제가 주님을 더욱 명료하게 분별할 수 있는 경지로

발전하고 있는 것 같은 생각이 듭니다. 오늘 지구가 낳은 구름과 안개

모두를 통해 밝아져 임재하옵소서.
