WITHOUT KNOWING

 

“He went out, not knowing whither he went.”

                                                                                                         Hebrews 11:8

 

   Have you been “out” in this way? If so, there is no logical statement possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. one of the difficulties in Christian work is this question-“What do you expect to do?” You do not know what you are going to do; the only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually revise your attitude towards God and see if it is a going out of everything, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in perpetual wonder-you do not know what God is going to do next. Each morning you wake it is to be a “going out,” building in confidence on God. “Take no thought for your life,… nor yet for your body”-take no thought for the things for which you did take thought before you “went out.”

   Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do; He reveals to you Who He is. Do you believe in miracle-working God, and will you go out in surrender to Him until you are not surprised an atom at anything He does?

   Suppose God is the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him-what an impertinence worry is! Let the attitude of the life be a continual “going out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have an ineffable charm about it which is a satisfaction to Jesus. You have to learn to go out of convictions, out of creeds, out of experiences, until so far as your faith is concerned, there is nothing between yourself and God.

 

       Lord, how eager is my growing desire for Thee, not

in any small parochial manner, but in the glorious

manner of a fuller realization of Thy holiness.

“그는 갈 바를 알지 못하고 나아갔습니다.”

                                                                         히브리서 11:8

 

당신은 이와 같은 식으로 “나아가” 본 적이 있습니까? 그렇다면 당신이 무슨 일을 하고 있느냐고 누군가 당신에게 물을 때 논리에 맞는 답변을 못할 것입니다. 크리스천 사역에서 어려움들 중의 하나는 “당신은 무슨 일을 하기를 기대하십니까?” 라는 질문입니다. 당신이 무슨 일을 하게 될지 당신은 모릅니다. 하나님께서 하고 계시는 일을 하나님 자신은 알고 계신다는 사실만을 당신이 유일하게 알고 있을 뿐입니다. 하나님에 대한 당신의 태도를 끊임없이 수정하여 그것이 하나님을 전적으로 신뢰하고 모든 집착에서 나온 것인지 확인하십시오. ‘하나님께서 다음에 무슨 일을 하실지 모른다’는 태도가 기대와 기다림이 있게 함으로써 당신을 영속적인 경탄 속에서 살게 하는 것입니다. 당신이 일어나는 매일 아침이 하나님에 대한 신뢰를 쌓아가며 “앞으로 나아감” 이 되게 하십시오. “목숨을 위하여 염려하지 말라, ---몸을 위하여서도 염려하지 말라”, 즉 당신이 “나아가기” 전에 염려했던 일들은 잊어버리십시오.

하나님께서 무슨 일을 하실 것인지 당신은 하나님에게 질문해오고 있습니까? 하나님은 당신에게 말씀하지 않을 것입니다. 하나님께서는 자신이 무슨 일을 할 예정인지 당신에게 말씀하지 않으십니다. 그와 반면에 하나님께서는 자신이 어떠한 분이신지 당신에게 계시하십니다. 기적을 만드시는 하나님을 믿고, 그분께서 행하시는 어떠한 것에도 당신이 조금도 놀라지 않을 때까지 자신을 하나님에게 맡기고 앞으로 나아가시겠습니까?

당신이 하나님에게 가장 가까이 있을 때 알고 있는 그분이 진정한 하나님이라고 상상해보십시오. 그건 얼마나 무례한 걱정인지요! 하나님을 의지하고 끊임없이 앞으로 나아가는 삶의 태도를 유지하십시오. 그리하면 예수님을 만족시키는 그것에 당신의 삶이 무어라 말할 수 없는 매력을 갖게 될 것입니다. 당신의 믿음에 관한 한 하나님과 당신 자신 사이에 아무 것도 없을 때까지 확신 신조 체험들로부터 초월하여 앞으로 나아가는 법을 당신이 배워야 합니다.

 

      주님, 어떤 작은 편협한 매너로가 아니고 주님의 신성을

더 풍성하게 깨닫기 위한 영광스러운 매너로 주님을

향해 자라나고 있는 저의 열망이 몹시 간절합니다.
