DO YOU WALK IN WHITE?

“Buried with Him . . .that . . . even so we also should walk

                in newness of life.”

Romans 6:4.

 

No one enters into the experience of entire sanctification without going through a ‘white funeral’—the burial of the old life. If there has never been this crisis of death, sanctification is nothing more than a vision. There must be a ‘white funeral,’ a death that has only one resurrection—a resurrection into the life of Jesus Christ. Nothing can upset such a life; it is one with God for one purpose, to be a witness to Him.

Have you come to your last days really? You have come to them often in sentiment, but have you come to them really ? You cannot go to your funeral in excitement, or die in excitement. Death means that you stop being. Do you agree with God that you stop being the striving, earnest kind of Christian you have been? We skirt the cemetery and all the time refuse to go to death. It is not striving to go to death, it is dying—“baptized into His death.”

Have you had your ‘white funeral,’ or are you sacredly playing the fool with your soul? Is there a place in your life marked as the last day, a place to which the memory goes back with a chastened and extraordinarily grateful remembrance—‘Yes, it was then, at that “white funeral,” that I made an agreement with God’?

“This is the will of God, even your sanctification.” When you realize what the will of God is, you will enter into sanctification as naturally as can be. Are you willing to go through that ‘white funeral’ now? Do you agree with Him that this is your last day on earth? The moment of agreement depends upon you.

 

  “Holiness, without which no man shall see Lord.”  

 Lord, I thank Thee for that word. How awful if Thou

wert not holy! How easy it would seem at times to

decline into a lesser, baser life; I thank Thee for the

warning breathing of Thy Spirit-how I long for these

to bring me face to face with Thee. Forgive my

tardiness, it takes me so long to awaken to some things.

당신은 흰 옷을 입고 걸어갑니까?

 

“그러므로 우리가 … 그와 함께 장사되었나니 … 우리로

                 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이라”

로마서 6:4

옛 생명을 묻어버리는 “흰 색 장례식”을 치르지 않고서는 아무도 온전한 성화를 체험할 수 없습니다. 만일 이 죽음의 위기가 없었다면 성화는 환상에 불과합니다. 예수 그리스도의 생명을 얻는 부활 즉, 오로지 유일한 부활을 획득하는 “흰 색 장례식”의 죽음이 반드시 선행되어야 합니다. 어떠한 것도 이러한 부활의 생명을 뒤엎을 수 없습니다. 부활의 생명은 예수 그리스도를 증거하기 위한 한 가지 목적을 위해 하나님과 하나로 일치하는 생명입니다.

당신은 정말로 마지막 날들 즉 죽음들을 만난 적이 있습니까? 당신은 감상적인 죽음들을 가끔 접해봤습니다. 그러나 당신이 실제로 그 죽음들을 체험한 적이 있습니까? 당신은 기분에 들뜬 흥분상태로 당신의 장례식에 갈 수 없고, 또는 흥분해서 죽을 수도 없습니다. 죽음이란 당신 존재의 정지를 의미합니다. 당신이 지금까지 분투하며 진지하게 살아왔던 크리스천의 삶을 멈추기로 하나님과 합의하십니까? 우리는 묘지를 빙 둘러 다니며 죽기를 항상 거부합니다. 죽기 위해 애써 노력하고 있는 것이 아닙니다. “예수 그리스도의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받고.”(롬 6:3) 죽는 것입니다.

당신은 자신의 “백의의 장례식”을 치렀습니까? 그렇지 않으면 당신의 영혼과 종교적으로 바보 놀음을 하고 있습니까? 당신의 생애 중에 최후의 날로 표시된 장소가 있습니까? 고난에 의해 단련되어 무한히 감사하는 마음으로 추억하면서 “예, 내가 하나님과 합의했던 것은 그 때 그 ‘백의의 장례식’에서 이었지요.” 라고 말하며 기억이 되 살아나는 장소를 말하는 것입니다.

 “하나님의 뜻은 이것이니 너희의 거룩함이라” (살전 4:3). 당신이 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 깨달을 때 가장 자연스럽게 당신은 성화의 단계에 들어갈 것입니다. 지금 당신은 기꺼이 그 “백의의 장례식”을 치르고 있습니까? 오늘이 지구상에서 당신의 마지막 날이라고 하나님과 동의합니까? 이 합의의 순간은 당신의 결심에 달려 있습니다.

 

       “거룩함, 그것이 없으면 어느 누구도 주님을 볼 수 없는

바로 그 거룩함." 주님, 그 말로 인해 주님께 감사합니다.

만일 주님이 거룩하시지 않다면 얼마나 무서울까요! 형편

없는 저질의 삶으로 추락하는 것이 때때로 얼마나 쉽게

생각될까요. 주님의 성령의 경고하는 숨결 때문에 주님에게

감사 드립니다. 성령의 숨결들을 통하여 주님과 대면하기를

제가 간절히 소망합니다. 저의 완만함을 용서하여 주시옵소서,

제가 어떤 무엇을 깨닫는데 시간이 많이 걸립니다.
