IT IS THE LORD!

Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God.

John 20:28

“Give Me to drink.” How many of us are set upon Jesus Christ slaking our thirst when we ought to be satisfying Him? We should be pouring out now, spending to the last limit, not drawing on Him to satisfy us. “Ye shall be witnesses unto Me”—that means a life of unsullied, uncompromising, and unbridled devotion to the Lord Jesus, a satisfaction to Him wherever He places us.

Beware of anything that competes with loyalty to Jesus Christ. The greatest competitor of devotion to Jesus is service for Him. It is easier to serve than to be drunk to the dregs. The one aim of the call of God is the satisfaction of God, not a call to do something for Him. We are not sent to battle for God, but to be used by God in His battlings. Are we being more devoted to service than to Jesus Christ?

 

  I praise Thee for that word-“Like as a father pities his children,

 so the Lord pities them that fear Him.” How I realize that I owe nothing

 to Thy severity but all to Thy love. Oh, that Thy love and gentleness

 and patience toward me were expressed through me to others!

주님이시다!

 

“도마가 대답하여 이르되 나의 주님이시요 나의 하나님이시니이다.”

요한복음 20:28

 

“내게 물을 좀 달라.”(요 4:7) 우리가 주님을 만족시켜 드리고 있어야 할 때에 우리 갈증을 풀어주고 계시는 예수 그리스도에게 우리가 얼마나 달려듭니까? 우리를 만족시켜달라고 우리가 주님께 매달릴 것이 아니고, 마지막 한계까지 소비하여 이제 우리가 쏟아 붓고 있어야 합니다. “너희는 내 증인이 되리라” (행 1:8)는 말씀은 오염되지 않고 세상의 것들과 타협하지 않고 전적으로 주 예수님에게 헌신하여 주께서 우리를 어디에 두시든지 주님께 만족이 되는 삶을 사는 것을 뜻합니다.

예수 그리스도를 향한 충성과 경쟁하는 어떠한 것도 조심하십시오. 예수님을 향한 헌신의 가장 큰 경쟁자는 주님을 위한 봉사입니다. 한 방울도 남김 없이 몽땅 마셔 취하는 것보다 손님 시중을 드는 것이 더 쉽습니다. 하나님께서 우리를 부르시는 한가지 목적은 주님을 위해 뭔가를 하라는 요구가 아니고 하나님의 만족입니다. 우리는 하나님을 위해 싸우라고 보냄을 받는 것이 아니고 하나님이 친히 행하시는 각종 투쟁에서 하나님의 도구로 사용되기 위하여 부름을 받는 것입니다. 우리는 예수 그리스도에게 보다는 봉사에 더 헌신되고 있는 중입니까?

 

       “자기 아이들을 측은히 여기는 한 아버지처럼 주님께서도

주님을 두려워하는 자들을 측은히 여기신다.”는 말씀으로

인해서 제가 주님을 찬양합니다. 제가 주님의 엄격하심에는

아무 것도 빚진 것이 없고 모든 것이 주님의 사랑의

힘이었음을 참으로 깨닫고 있습니다. 오오, 저를 향한

주님의 사랑과 온유와 인내가 저를 통해서 다른 사람들에게

보여졌음을 또한 깨닫습니다!
