ARE YOU FRESH FOR EVERYTHING?

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:3

 

   Sometimes we are fresh for a prayer meeting but not fresh for cleaning boots!

   Being born again of the Spirit is an unmistakable work of God, as mysterious as the wind, as surprising as God Himself. We do not know where it begins, it is hidden away in the depths of our personal life. Being born again from above is a perennial, perpetual and eternal beginning; a freshness all the time in thinking and in talking and living, the continual surprise of the life of God. Staleness is an indication of something out of joint with God, “I must do this thing or it will never be done.” That is the first sign of staleness. Are we freshly born this minute or are we stale, raking in our minds for something to do? Freshness does not come from obedience but from the Holy Spirit; obedience keeps us in the light as God is in the light.

   Guard jealously your relationship to God. Jesus prayed “that they may be one, even as we are one”-nothing between. Keep all the life perennially open to Jesus Christ, don’t pretend with Him. Are drawing your life from any other source than God Himself? If you are depending upon anything but Him, you will never know when He is gone.

   Being born of the Spirit means much more than we generally take it to mean. It gives us a new vision and keeps us absolutely fresh for everything by the perennial supply of the life of God.

 

     O Lord, breathe on me till I am one with Thee in the

     temper of my mind and heart and disposition. Unto

    Thee do I turn. Again, how completely I realize my

    lost-ness without Thee!

당신은 모든 것에 새롭습니까?

“사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라를 볼 수 없느니라.”

요한복음 3:3

 

때때로 우리는 기도 모임에 참석할 때는 마음이 새롭지만 부츠를 닦을 때는 상쾌하지 않습니다.

성령으로 거듭남은 명백한 하나님의 역사로서 하나님 자신과 같이 놀라운 일이며 바람처럼 신비로운 것입니다. 우리는 그것이 어디서 시작하는지 모르며 우리 일상생활의 깊은 곳에 숨겨져 있습니다. 위로부터 거듭남은 계속 반복되는 종신의 영원한 시작입니다. 생각하고 이야기하고 생활함에 있어서 항상 새롭고 하나님의 생명의 경이를 끊임없이 체험하는 것을 의미합니다. “나는 이것을 하지 않으면 안돼 그렇지 않으면 그건 결코 성취되지 않을 거야.”라고 말하게 되는 것은 변화가 없는 진부함이 하나님과의 연대에서 이탈된 무엇인가를 보여주는 징조로서 나타나는 것입니다. 그것은 진부함의 첫 번째 신호입니다. 우리는 지금 이 순간 새롭게 거듭나고 있습니까 그렇지 않으면 진부하여 뭔가 할 일을 마음 속에 긁어 모으느라고 안절부절하고 있습니까? 새롭게 변화되는 것은 순종한다고 되는 것이 아니고 성령의 역사하심으로 가능하게 되는 것입니다. 하나님께서 빛 가운데 거하심 같이 순종하게 되면 우리로 하여금 빛 가운데 행하게 하십니다.

하나님에 대한 당신의 관계를 소중히 지키십시오. 예수님께서는 둘 사이에 아무 것도 끼지 않고 “우리가 하나인 것 같이 저희도 하나가 되게 하옵소서”(요17:11)라고 기도하셨습니다. 계속 반복적으로 생활 전체를 예수 그리스도에게 열어놓고 그분과 가식이 없도록 하십시오. 하나님 자신이 아닌 다른 원천으로부터 당신 생명을 끌어내고 있습니까? 당신이 만일 하나님이 결코 아닌 것을 의지하고 있다면 하나님이 언제 떠나실지 당신은 알지 못 할 것입니다.

성령으로 거듭난다는 것은 우리가 일반적으로 알고 있는 그 이상으로 훨씬 큰 뜻을 지니고 있습니다. 우리가 거듭남으로써 새로운 비전을 받게 되고 하나님의 생명을 계속 반복적으로 공급해주심으로써 우리로 하여금 모든 것에 틀림없이 새롭게 변화되도록 지켜주십니다.

 

      오오 주님, 제 마음의 기질과 성격이 주님과 하나 될

때까지 제게 입김을 불어주시옵소서. 제가 주님을 향해

바라봅니다. 다시, 주님이 없으면 제가 아무 가치도

없음을 제가 얼마나 철저하게 깨닫는지요!
