DIVINE REASONINGS OF FAITH

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness;

                            and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Matthew 6:33

Immediately we look at these words of Jesus, we find them the most revolutionary statement human ears ever listened to. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” We argue in exactly the opposite way—“But I must live; I must make so much money; I must be clothed; I must be fed.” The great concern of our lives is not the kingdom of God, but how we are to fit ourselves to live. Jesus reverses the order: Get rightly related to God first, maintain that as the great care of your life, and never put the concern of your care on the other things.

“Take no thought for your life . . . .” Our Lord points out the utter unreasonableness from His standpoint of being so anxious over the means of living. Jesus is not saying that the man who takes thought for nothing is blessed—that man is a fool. Jesus taught that a disciple has to make his relationship to God the dominating concentration of his life, and to be carefully careless about everything else in comparison to that. Jesus is saying—“Don’t make the ruling factor of your life what you shall eat and what you shall drink, but be concentrated absolutely on God.” Some people are careless over what they eat and drink, and they suffer for it; they are careless about what they wear, and they look as they have no business to look; they are careless about their earthly affairs, and God holds them responsible. Jesus is saying that the great care of the life is to put the relationship to God first, and everything else second.

It is one of the severest disciplines of the Christian life to allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into harmony with the teaching of Jesus in these verses.

 

   Lord, this morning, insulate me from sights and sounds unusual;

loosen me from the bands that bind me to the present and

the recent, and fill with Thy Spirit the whole limit of this day.

믿음의 신성한 논리

“그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라

                                  그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더 하시리라.”

마태복음 6:33

 

우리는 예수님의 이러한 말씀들을 보자마자 사람의 귀가 들어본 가장 혁명적인 성명서임을 우리가 알게 됩니다. “너희는 먼저 하나님의 천국을 구하라.” 우리는 정확하게 그 반대 방향으로 다음과 같이 주장합니다. ”그러나 나는 생활을 해야 합니다. 많은 돈을 벌어야 합니다. 옷을 입어야 하고, 먹어야 합니다.” 우리 삶의 큰 관심사는 하나님의 나라가 아니고, 살기 위해서 우리가 스스로 어떻게 적응해야 하는가 하는 것입니다. 예수님께서는 이 순서를 바꾸십니다: 최우선으로 하나님과 올바른 관계를 맺어라. 그것을 너희 삶의 비상한 관심사가 되도록 유지하라. 그리고 너희는 정신력을 소모시키는 염려를 수반하는 관심을 다른 것들에 절대로 두지 말라.

“너희 목숨을 위하여 염려하지 말라…” 생활수단에 대해 많이 염려하는 것에 대한 주님의 관점으로부터 철저한 단순성을 우리 주님은 가리킵니다. 아무것도 염려하지 않는 사람이 복이 있다고 예수님께서 말씀하고 계시는 것이 아닙니다. 그런 사람은 바보입니다. 제자는 하나님에 대한 자신의 관계를 삶의 지배적인 집중의 대상으로 하고 그에 비해서 다른 모든 것에 대해서는 애써서 개의치 않아야 한다고 예수님께서 가르치셨습니다. “무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 하는 것을 너희 삶의 지배적인 요소로 만들지 말고 하나님께 절대적으로 집중하라.”고 예수님께서 이르고 계십니다. 어떤 사람들은 먹고 마시는 것에 관하여 무관심합니다. 그 뒤 그들은 그것 때문에 고민합니다. 그들은 입을 것에 대해서 개의치 않습니다. 그리하여 그들에게는 바라 볼 권리가 없는 것처럼 그들이 보입니다. 그들은 세속적인 일들에 관해서 무관심합니다. 그렇게 하면 하나님께서 그들에게 책임을 지우십니다. 삶의 큰 관심사는 하나님에 대한 관계를 첫째 관심사로 두고 다른 모든 것을 두 번째 관심사로 두어야 한다고 예수님께서 이르고 계십니다.

우리로 하여금 이러한 성경구절들 안에 있는 예수님의 가르침에 완전하게 따르도록 인도하시도록 성령님을 인정하는 것이 그리스도인 삶의 가장 가혹한 훈련들 중 하나입니다.

 

   주님, 오늘 아침 정상이 아닌 것으로서 눈에 보이는 것들과 소리들로부터

  저를 격리하여 주시옵소서. 현재와 최근까지 저를 얽어 매는 굴레로부터

  저를 풀어주시어 주님의 영으로 하루 종일 충만하게 하옵소서.
