CAREFUL INFIDELITY

“Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye

                               shall drink; nor yet for your body what ye shall put on.”

Matthew 6:25

Jesus sums up common-sense carefulness in a disciple as infidelity. If we have received the Spirit of God, He will press through and say—Now where does God come in in this relationship, in this mapped out holiday, until we learn to make Him our first consideration. Whenever we put other things first, there is confusion.

“Take no thought . . .” Don’t take the pressure of fore-thought upon yourself. It is not only wrong to worry, it is infidelity, because worrying means that we do not think that God can look after the practical details of our lives, and it is never anything else that worries us. Have you ever noticed what Jesus said would choke the word He puts in? The devil? No, the cares of this world. It is the little worries always. I will not trust where I cannot see, that is where infidelity begins. The only cure for infidelity is obedience to the Spirit.

The great word of Jesus to His disciples is abandon.

 

   Lord God Omnipotent, how my soul delights to know that Thou carest

for sparrows, and numberest the hairs of our head! Lord, breathe on

me till I am in the frame of mind and body to worship Thee.

염려되는 불신앙

“목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까

몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라.”

마태복음 6:25

예수님께서는 제자 안에 있는 상식적인 염려를 불신앙으로 요약하십니다. 우리가 만일 성령을 받았다면 우리가 성령님을 첫째 고려대상으로 삼을 줄 알게 되기까지 성령님께서 개입하셔 ‘자, 이 관계 속에, 면밀하게 짜여진 이 휴가 계획에, 하나님께서 어디로 들어오시지’라고 말씀하십니다. 우리가 다른 것들을 첫 순위에 둘 때는 언제든지 혼란이 발생합니다.

“염려하지 말라…” 당신 스스로 장래에 대한 심려의 압박을 받지 마십시오. 걱정하는 것은 우리 삶의 실제적인 세부사항들을 하나님께서 돌보실 수 있다고 우리가 생각하지 않는다는 것을 의미하기 때문에 좋지 않을 뿐만 아니라 불신앙입니다. 그리하여 불신앙 외에는 우리를 걱정시키는 것이 딴 아무것도 없습니다. 주님께서 마음에 두시는 말씀을 무엇이 억제할 것이라고 예수님께서 말씀하셨는지 당신이 주목한 적이 있습니까? 마귀입니까? 아닙니다, 세상의 염려들입니다. 그것은 항상 사소한 염려들입니다. 나는 내 눈으로 볼 수 없는 경우에는 믿지 않겠다. 그것이 바로 불신앙이 시작되는 곳입니다. 불신앙에 대한 유일한 치료는 성령님께 순종하는 것입니다.

제자들에게 이르신 예수님의 중요한 말씀은 내맡기라는 것입니다.

 

   전능하신 주 하나님, 주님께서 참새를 돌보시고 우리 머리털의 숫자도

  헤아리신다는 걸 알고 제가 얼마나 기쁜지요! 제가 주님을 경배하는

마음과 몸의 상태가 될 때까지 제게 생명을 불어넣어주시옵소서.
