DIFFUSIVENESS OF LIFE

“Rivers of living water.”

                                   John 7:38

 

A river touches places of which its source knows nothing, and Jesus says if we have received of His fullness, however small the visible measure of our lives, out of us will flow the rivers that will bless to the uttermost parts of the earth. We have nothing to do with the outflow—“This is the work of God that ye believe. . . .” God rarely allows a soul to see how great a blessing he is.

A river is victoriously persistent, it overcomes all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, then it comes to an obstacle and for a while it is baulked, but it soon makes a pathway round the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, and presently emerge again broader and grander than ever. You can see God using some lives, but into your life an obstacle has come and you do not seem to be of any use. Keep paying attention to the Source, and God will either take you round the obstacle or remove it. The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles. Never get your eyes on the obstacle or on the difficulty. The obstacle is a matter of indifference to the river which will flow steadily through you if you remember to keep right at the Source. Never allow anything to come between yourself and Jesus Christ, no emotion, or experience; nothing must keep you from the one great sovereign Source.

Think of the healing and far-flung rivers nursing themselves in our souls! God has been opening up marvelous truths to our minds, and every point He has opened up is an indication of the wider power of the river He will flow through us. If you believe in Jesus, you will find that God has nourished in you mighty torrents of blessing for others.

 

“Ye shall not fear them: for the Lord your God, He it is that

fighteth for you.” Lord, this word came to me insistently in

my reading this morning. How entirely I look to Thee!

“생수의 강”

                                       요한복음 7:38

 

강의 원천이 아무것도 모르는 여러 곳을 접촉하며 강이 흐릅니다. 만약 우리가 주님의 충만으로부터 받았다면 지구의 맨 끝까지 축복하게 될 강이 우리로부터 흘러나오리라고 예수님께서 이르십니다. 우리는 흘러나가는 것과는 전혀 관계가 없습니다—“이는 너희가…믿게 되는 것은 하나님의 역사이니라.” 하나님께서는 한 영혼이 얼마나 큰 축복이 되는지 그 영혼이 확인하도록 좀처럼 허락하지 않으십니다.

강은 승리의 감격으로 꾸준히 흐르며 모든 장벽을 극복합니다. 잠시 동안 정해진 경로를 착실히 흐르다가 장애물을 만나 잠시 멈춥니다. 그러나 곧 장애물을 돌아 통로를 만듭니다. 또는 강은 몇 마일은 시야에서 벗어날 것이지만 곧 여태까지 보다 더 넓고 장엄한 모습으로 다시 나타날 것입니다. 당신은 하나님께서 어떤 사람들의 삶을 사용하심을 볼 수 있습니다. 그러나 당신 삶 속으로 장애물이 나타나서 당신은 아무런 쓸모가 없는 것처럼 보입니다. 생명의 원천을 계속 주목하세요. 그러면 하나님께서 장애물을 피하여 당신을 인도하시거나 장애물을 제거하실 것입니다. 절대로 장애물 또는 난관에 시선을 고정하지 마세요. 생명의 원천과 올바른 관계를 계속 유지하기를 당신이 만약 기억한다면 장애물은 당신을 통해 꾸준히 흐르게 될 강에 대한 무관심의 문제임을 알 수 있습니다. 당신 자신과 예수 그리스도 사이에 무엇이든지 끼어들지 못하게 하세요, 감정도 체험도 끼어들어 방해하지 못하게 하세요. 어떠한 것도 위대하고 주권적인 한 분 생명의 원천으로부터 당신을 멀리하도록 해서는 안 됩니다.

우리 영혼 안에서 치유의 능력으로 돌보며 광범위하게 흐르는 강들을 생각하세요! 하나님께서 놀라운 진리들을 우리 마음에 알려오셨습니다. 그리고 주님께서 개방하신 모든 요점은 우리를 통해 흘려 보내실 강의 더 넓은 능력을 나타내는 것입니다. 당신이 만약 예수님을 믿는다면 다른 사람들을 위해 억수 같이 쏟아지는 큰 축복을 하나님께서 당신 안에 강화하셨음을 깨달을 것입니다.

 

“너희는 그들을 두려워하지 말라. 주 너희 하나님께서 너희를 위해 싸우시기

때문이니라.” 주님, 오늘 아침 제가 성경말씀을 읽는 중에 이 말씀이 집요하게

감동으로 다가왔습니다. 제가 얼마나 전적으로 주님을 바라보는지요!
