INTROSPECTION

 

“And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be

                 preserved blameless.”

                                                                                                                1 Thessalonians 5:23

 

   Your whole spirit… The great mystical work of the Holy Spirit is in the dim regions of our personality which we cannot get at. Read the 139^th Psalm; the Psalmist implies, “Thou art the God of the early mornings, the God of the late at nights, the God of the mountain peaks, and the God of the sea; but, my God, my soul has further horizons than the early mornings, deeper darkness than the nights of earth, higher peaks than any mountain peaks, greater depths than any sea in nature-Thou Who art the God of all these, be my God. I cannot reach to the heights or to the depths; there are motives I cannot trace, dreams I Cannot get at-my God, search me out.”

   Do we believe that God can garrison the imagination far beyond where we can go? “The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin”-if that means in conscious experience only, may God have mercy on us. The man who has been made obtuse by sin will say he is not conscious of sin. Cleansing from sin is to the very heights and depths of our spirit if we will keep in the light as God is in the light, and the very Spirit that fed the life of Jesus Christ will feed the life of our spirits. It is only when we are garrisoned by God with the stupendous sanctity of the Holy Spirit, that spirit, soul and body are preserved in unspotted integrity, undeserving of censure in God’s sight, until Jesus comes.

   We do not allow our minds to dwell as they should on these great massive truths of God.

 

           O Lord, dawn on us and draw us into Thyself today;

begin with me. Cleanse me, O Lord, from all the

imperfections which are clear to Thee though not to me.

중보 자기성찰

“너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 흠 없게 보전되기를

                  내가 하나님께 기도하노라.”

데살로니가전서 5:23

 

“너희의 온 영…” 성령의 신비로운 대 사역은 우리가 닿을 수 없는 우리 인격의 깊은 곳에서 행해집니다. 시편 139편을 읽어보십시오. 시편 기자의 말은 다음과 같은 뜻입니다. “주님은 새벽의 하나님, 심야의 하나님, 산 정상의 하나님, 바다의 하나님이십니다. 그러나 나의 하나님, 나의 영혼은 새벽보다 더 넓은 지경을, 지구의 밤보다 더 깊은 어둠을, 산의 어떠한 정상보다 높은 정상들을, 자연의 어떤 바다보다 큰 깊이를 지니고 있습니다. 이 모든 것들의 하나님이신 주님께서는 저의 하나님이십니다. 제가 그 높이나 깊이에 도달할 수가 없습니다. 제가 추적할 수 없는 동기들이 있고, 제가 도달할 수 없는 꿈들이 있습니다. 그러하오니 나의 하나님, 저를 밝혀내시옵소서.”

우리는 하나님께서 우리의 능력 범위를 훨씬 초월하는 상상을 점령하실 수 있다는 사실을 믿는가? “예수 그리스도의 피가 우리를 모든 죄에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요”(요일 1:7) 만일 그 말씀이 의식적인 체험 안에서만 가능하다는 의미라면 하나님 저희에게 자비를 베푸시옵소서. 죄로 인해 둔감해진 사람은 죄를 의식하지 않는다고 말할 것입니다. 만일 하나님께서 빛 가운데 계시듯이 우리가 빛 가운데 행할 것이면 우리 영의 최고 높이와 깊이까지 죄로부터 깨끗하게 되는 것입니다. 또한 예수 그리스도의 생애를 양육해주셨던 바로 그 성령이 우리 영들의 생명을 기르실 것입니다. 우리가 성령의 불가사의한 거룩함으로 하나님께 점령당할 때에만 영.혼.육이 예수님이 오실 때까지 하나님 보시기에 책망 받지 않아도 될 만큼 흠 없이 완전하게 보존됩니다.

이러한 위대한 엄청난 하나님의 진리들에서 우리 마음들이 떠나지 않도록 우리 마음을 굳게 지켜야 합니다.

 

      오오 주님, 오늘 우리를 깨우쳐주시어 주님에게 이끌어주시옵소서.

저와 함께 시작하시옵소서. 오오 주님, 제게는 아니지만 주님에게는

분명하게 보이는 모든 결점들을 저로부터 제거하여 주시옵소서.
