WHAT AM I LOOKING AT?

 “Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:

              for I am God, and there is none else.”

 Isaiah 45:22

Do we expect God to come to us with His blessings and save us? He says—‘Look unto Me, and be saved.’ The great difficulty spiritually is to concentrate on God, and it is His blessings that make it difficult. Troubles nearly always make us look to God; His blessings are apt to make us look elsewhere. The teaching of the Sermon on the Mount is, in effect—Narrow all your interests until the attitude of mind and heart and body is concentration on Jesus Christ. “Look unto Me.”

Many of us have a mental conception of what a Christian should be, and the lives of the saints become a hindrance to our concentration on God. There is no salvation in this way, it is not simple enough. “Look unto Me” and—not “you will be saved,” but “you are saved.” The very thing we look for, we shall find if we will concentrate on Him. We get preoccupied and sulky with God, while all the time He is saying—“Look up and be saved.” The difficulties and trials, the casting about in our minds as to what we shall do this summer, or tomorrow, all vanish when we look to God.

Rouse yourself up and look to God. Build your hope on Him. No matter if there are a hundred and one things that press, resolutely exclude them all and look to Him. “Look unto Me,” and salvation is , the moment you look.

 

  Lord, unto Thee do I look up. How I k now that “in

me dwelleth no good thing”; and how marvelous is

Thy grace that I now find in my heart no motive save

for Thy glory.

나는 무엇을 바라보고 있습니까?

 “땅의 모든 끝이여 내게로 돌이켜 구원을 받으라

               나는 하나님이라 다른 이가 없느니라”

이사야 45:22

우리는 하나님께서 축복을 가지고 오셔서 우리를 구원하시기를 기대합니까?  “내게로 돌이켜 구원을 받으라.”라고 주께서 말씀하십니다. 영적으로 큰 어려움은 하나님께 집중하는 일입니다. 게다가 하나님께 집중하는 것을 어렵게 만드는 것은 주께서 베푸시는 축복입니다. 고난을 당하면 거의 대부분의 경우 우리는 하나님을 바라보게 되는데 비해서 주께서 베푸시는 축복은 우리를 딴 데로 눈을 돌리게 하는 경향이 있습니다. 산상 수훈의 가르침은 사실상 ‘너의 모든 관심을 한군데 모아 마음과 뜻과 힘을 다해 예수 그리스도께 집중하라’는 것입니다. “내게로 돌이켜 나를 바라보라.”

우리 중 많은 사람들이 크리스천은 어떻게 살아야 한다는 관념을 가지고 있습니다. 그런데 성도들의 실제 생활들이 우리가 하나님께 집중하는데 장애물이 됩니다. 이런 식으로 구원이 오는 것이 아니고 더 단순한 방법이 있는 것입니다. “내게로 돌이키라” 그러면 “네가 미래에 구원을 받을 것이다,”가 아니고 “네가 지금 구원을 이미 받았다.”는 뜻의 말씀인 것입니다. 우리가 만일 하나님께 집중하면 우리가 구하는 바로 그것을 우리가 얻게 될 것입니다.  “돌이켜 구원을 받으라.”고 주께서 항상 말씀하고 계시는데 우리는 딴 데 정신이 팔려 하나님께 부루퉁해하고 있습니다. 우리가 올 여름 또는 내일 무엇을 해야 할 것인가에 관해서 우리 마음 속에서 궁리하고 있는 것 즉, 어려움과 시련들은 우리가 하나님을 앙망할 때 모두 사라집니다.

정신차리고 하나님을 바라보십시오. 하나님께 당신의 소망을 두십시오. 우리를 힘들게 하는 일들이 많더라도 그것들을 모두 결연히 배제하고 주님을 바라보세요. “돌이켜 나를 바라보라,”는 말씀 따라 당신이 주 하나님을 바라보는 순간 구원을 받게 됩니다. 

 

    주님, 제가 주님을 앙망합니다. “내 안에 선한 것이 아무 것도 없음”을

제가 어떻게 알고 있는지, 또한 내 마음 속에 주님의 영광을 제외하고

다른 동기가 전혀 없음을 제가 이제 알게 해주신 주님의 은혜도

대단히 경탄할만한 일입니다.
