TRANSFORMED BY INSIGHT

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of

              the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory,

              even as by the Spirit of the LORD.”

2 Corinthians 3:18

   The outstanding characteristic of a Christian is this unveiled frankness before God so that the life becomes a mirror for other lives. By being filled with the Spirit we are transformed, and by beholding we become mirrors. You always know when a man has been beholding the glory of the Lord; you feel in your inner spirit that he is the mirror of the Lord’s own character. Beware of anything which would sully that mirror in you; It is nearly always a good thing, the good that is not the best.

   The golden rule for your life and mine is this concentrated keeping of the life open towards God. Let everything else-work, clothes, food, everything on earth-go by the board, saving that one thing. The rush of other things always tends to obscure this concentration on God. We have to maintain ourselves in the place of beholding, keeping the life absolutely spiritual all through. Let other thing come and go as they may, let other people criticize as they will, but never allow anything to obscure the life that is hid with Christ in God. Never be hurried out of the relationship of abiding in Him. It is the one thing that is apt to fluctuate but it ought not to. The severest discipline of a Christian’s life is to learn how to keep “beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord.”

 

      O Lord, I look to Thee so utterly that I am worse

than useless without Thee. Be made wisdom and

discernment and understanding unto me today.

“우리가 다 수건을 벗은 얼굴로 거울을 보는 것같이 주의 영광을

                보매 그와 같은 형상으로 변화하여 영광에서 영광에 이르니

               곧 주의 영으로 말미암음이니라”

고후 3:18

 

크리스천의 두드러진 특징은 하나님 앞에서 가린 것이 없는 솔직함이기 때문에 그 삶이 다른 사람들의 삶에 거울이 되는 것입니다. 성령으로 충만하게 됨으로써 우리는 변화되고 바라봄으로써 우리는 바라보는 자들에게 거울이 됩니다. 어떤 사람이 하나님의 영광을 계속해서 바라보고 있을 때 그 사람은 주님 자신의 성품을 비추는 거울이라는 것을 당신 속의 영이 느끼고 있음을 당신은 항상 알고 있습니다. 그러므로 어떤 것도 당신 영혼 안에 있는 거울을 더럽히지 않도록 조심하십시오. 그것이 거의 항상 좋은 것이지만 최상의 것이 아닌 좋은 것도 있습니다.

당신의 삶과 나의 삶에 대한 황금률은 우리의 삶이 하나님을 향하여 개방된 상태로 하나님께 계속 집중되도록 하는 것입니다. 오직 그 한 가지만 제외하고, 다른 모든 것, 즉 일, 의복, 음식, 지구상의 모든 것들을 흘려 보내십시오. 다른 것들이 몰려들게 되면 언제나 하나님에 대한 이 집중을 어렵게 하는 경향이 있기 때문입니다. 우리는 우리의 삶이 철저하게 영적으로 유지되도록 노력하면서 주님만을 바라보는 자리에서 벗어나지 않도록 우리 자신을 관리하지 않으면 안 됩니다. 다른 것들은 오고 가도록 놔두시고, 다른 사람들이 비판하는 대로 놔두십시오. 그러나 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 숨겨진 그 생명을 어떠한 것도 절대로 흐리지 못하게 막으십시오. 주님 안에 거하는 관계에서 결코 황급히 빠져 나오지 마십시오. 그것은 변동을 보이기 쉬운 일이긴 하지만 그래서는 안 됩니다. 크리스천의 가장 혹독한 훈련은 거울을 보는 것처럼 주님의 영광을 계속 바라보고 있는 방법을 배우는 일입니다.

 

오오 주님, 주님을 떠나서는 제가 아무 쓸모가 없기 때문에

제가 주님에게 전적으로 기대를 겁니다. 오늘 제게 지혜와

분별력과 이해력을 부어주시옵소서.
