WHAT TO DO UNDER

THE CONDITIONS

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord."

                                                                                                                      Psalm 55:22

 

   We must distinguish between the burden-bearing that is right and the burden-bearing that is wrong. We ought never to bear the burden of sin or of doubt, but there are burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off, He wants us to roll them back on Him. “Cast that He hath given thee upon the Lord.” (R.V. marg.) If we undertake work for God and get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility will be overwhelmingly crushing; but if we roll back on God that which He has put upon us, He takes away the sense of responsibility by bringing in the realization of Himself.

   Many workers have gone out with high courage and fine impulses, but with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, and before long they are crushed. They do not know what to do with the burden, it produces weariness, and people say—"What an embittered end to such a beginning!"

   “Roll thy burden upon the Lord”—you have been bearing it all; deliberately put one end on the shoulders of God. “The government shall be upon His shoulder.” Commit to God “that He hath given thee”; not fling it off, but put it over onto Him and yourself with it, and the burden is lightened by the sense of companionship. Never disassociate yourself from the burden.

 

   Lord, call me by name that I may thrill with that

   wonderful calling! What a difference a little thing for

   Thee to do does make―a calling by name, a passing

   touch, and we are in ecstasy! Oh, why dost Thou not

   do it oftener?

상황에 따라 해야 할 일

"네 짐을 여호와께 맡기라."

시편 55:22

   우리는 짐을 져서 옳은 것과 나쁜 것을 구별해야 한다. 죄 또는 의심의 짐을 져서는 안 된다. 그렇지만 하나님에 의해서 우리에게 지워진 짐들이 있는데 그것들은 내려놓기를 하나님께서 원하시지 않는 짐들이다. 주님께서는 우리가 그 짐들을 주님에게 되돌려주기를 바라신다. “주님께서 네게 지워준 짐을 주님께 맡기라.” 만일 우리가 하나님을 위한 사역을 하면서 주님과 만나지 않는다면 책임감에 극도로 짓눌리게 될 것이다. 그러나 만일 우리가 주님께서 우리에게 지워준 짐을 하나님께 돌려 드린다면 주님 자신을 실현함으로써 책임감을 제거하십니다.

   많은 사역자들이 높은 용기와 좋은 추진력을 가지고 나갔지만 예수 그리스도와 친밀한 동료관계가 없기 때문에 오래지 않아 좌절당합니다. 그들은 짐을 어떻게 처리할지 몰라 지치게 되어 “시작은 그럴듯하게 해놓고 엉망으로 끝이 나다니!” 라고 사람들이 말합니다.

   “네 짐을 주님에게 돌려드리라” 즉, 당신이 홀로 짊어져 오고 있는 중에 있는 그것 모두를. 하나님의 어깨에 한 쪽 끝을 의식적으로 올려놓으세요. “그 어깨에는 정사를 메었고[=통치자, Ruler]”(사 9:6). "주님께서 당신에게 주신 것“을 하나님께 맡기세요. 그것을 벗어던지지 말고 주님과 당신 사이에 그것을 걸쳐놓으세요. 그러면 이 짐이 서로 동역자라는 생각으로 가벼워집니다. 절대로 이 짐을 버려두고 떠나지 마세요.

 

   주님, 그 놀라운 소명으로 제가 감동할 수 있도록 제 이름을

   불러주시옵소서. 주님께서 행하시는 작은 것이라도 얼마나 차이가

   있는지 즉, 이름을 불러 소명을 주시고, 통과하시며 가볍게

   만지시기만 해도 우리는 황홀경에 빠집니다! 오오, 주님께서

   그걸 왜 좀 더 자주 해주지 않으십니까?
