NECK OR NOTHING

“Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt

his fisher's coat unto him...and did cast himself into the sea“

                                                                                                                                   John 21:7

 

   Have you ever had a crisis in which you deliberately and emphatically and recklessly abandoned everything? It is a crisis of will. You may come up to it many times externally, but it amounts to nothing. The real deep crisis of abandonment is reached internally, not externally. The giving up of external things may be an indication of being in total bondage.

   Have you deliberately committed your will to Jesus Christ? It is a transaction of will, not of emotion; the emotion is simply the gilt-edge of the transaction. If you allow emotion first, you will never make the transaction. Do not ask God what the transaction is to be, but make it in regard to the thing you do see, either in the shallow or the profound place.

   If you have heard Jesus Christ's voice on the billows, let your convictions go to the winds, let your consistency go to the winds, but maintain your relationship to Him.

 

   “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth

   for you.“ O Lord, what a wonder these words are! The

   miasmas that at times lie around the margins of the

   mind need Thy constant care to keep them away. I

   look to Thee that I may be renewed in the spirit of my

   mind.

목숨을 걸고

“시몬 베드로가 주님이라는 말을 듣고 겉옷을

                                                          두른 후에 바다로 뛰어 내리더라.”

                                                                                                           요한복음 21:7

 

   당신이 어떤 위기를 만나 의식적으로 강력하게 그리고 무모하게 모든 것을 포기한 적이 있는가? 그것은 의지의 위기다. 당신이 그것을 외적으로 여러 번 겪었을지 모르지만 그건 아무것도 아니다. 진정으로 깊은 위기에서의 포기는 외적으로가 아니고 내적으로 이루어진다. 외적인 것들을 포기하는 것은 내적으로는 전적인 노예 상태에 빠져 있다는 징후일 수 있다.

   당신은 예수 그리스도에게 당신의 의지를 계획적으로 맡겼는가? 그건 감정이 아닌 의지의 영적교류이다. 감정은 단순히 영적교류를 위한 외형적인 화려한 장식에 불과하다. 당신이 만일 처음에 감정을 허락한다면 결코 영적교류를 이루지 못할 것이다. 영적교류가 어떻게 되어야 하는 것인지 하나님께 묻지 말고 당신 눈에 보이는 것에 관해서 얕거나 깊은 곳 중 어느 한 곳에서 영적교류를 이루라.

   큰 파도 위에서 예수 그리스도의 음성을 당신이 만일 들었다면 당신의 확신을 강풍으로 보내라. 당신의 언행일치가 강풍에 날려가게 놔둬라. 그러나 주님에 대한 당신의 관계를 유지하라.

 

   “주님께서 돌보시니, 당신의 모든 염려를 주님에게 맡기라.”

   주님, 이 말씀들이 얼마나 놀라운 축복인지요! 마음 언저리에서

   배회하는 독기를 몰아내기 위해서는 주님의 꾸준한 돌보심이

   필요합니다. 나의 마음의 영혼 안에서 내가 새로워질 수 있도록

   내가 주님을 바라봅니다.
