“Ye know not what ye ask.”

                                   Matthew 20:22

 

There are times in spiritual life when there is confusion, and it is no way out to say that there ought not to be confusion. It is not a question of right and wrong, but a question of God taking you by a way which in the meantime you do not understand, and it is only by going through the confusion that you will get at what God wants.

The Shrouding of His Friendship. Luke 11:5-8. Jesus gave the illustration of the man who looked as if he did not care for his friend, and He said that that is how the Heavenly Father will appear to you at times. You will think He is an unkind friend, but remember He is not; the time will come when everything will be explained. There is a cloud on the friendship of the heart, and often even love itself has to wait in pain and tears for the blessing of fuller communion. When God looks completely shrouded, will you hang in confidence in Him?

The Shadow on His Fatherhood. Luke 11:11-13. Jesus says there are times when your Father will appear as if He were an unnatural father, as if He were callous and indifferent, but remember He is not; I have told you—“Everyone that asketh receiveth.” If there is a shadow on the face of the Father just now, hang onto it that He will ultimately give His clear revealing and justify Himself in all that He permitted.

The Strangeness of His Faithfulness. Luke 18:1-8. “When the Son of Man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?” Will He find the faith which banks on Him in spite of the confusion? Stand off in faith believing that what Jesus said is true, though in the meantime you do not understand what God is doing. He has bigger issues at stake than the particular things you ask. 

 

O Lord, this day I have to speak in Thy Name, and I am un-moved

and un-inspired till now. If Thou canst convey Thy mind to me

in my spiritual dullness, Oh, for Jesus Christ’s sake, do it.

영적 혼란을 통해

“너희가 구하는 것을 알지 못하는구나.”

                                                                                             마태복음 20:22

 

혼란이 생기는 때가 영적 삶에 종종 발생하는데 혼란이 있어선 안 된다고 말하는 것으로 문제가 해결되는 것이 아닙니다. 그것은 옳고 그름의 문제가 아니고 여러분이 이해하지 못하는 방법으로 하나님께서 여러분을 이끌고 계시는 문제이므로 하나님께서 무엇을 원하시는지 파악함으로써만 혼란이 극복됩니다.

그분의 우정이 가려짐. 눅 11:5-8. 마치 그의 친구를 돌보지 않는 것처럼 보이는 사람의 경우를 예수님께서 예시하시고 그것이 하늘에 계신 아버지께서 여러분에게 종종 나타나실 방법임을 이르셨습니다. 여러분은 그분이 불친절한 친구라고 생각할 것입니다. 그러나 그분이 그렇지 않다는 것을 기억하세요. 모든 것이 설명될 때가 올 것입니다. 마음으로부터 울어나는 우정에 구름이 덮입니다. 그리하여 흔히 사랑 그 자체 조차도 고통과 눈물 가운데 기다려야만 더 충만한 영적 교통의 축복을 누리게 되는 것입니다. 하님께서 완전히 가려져 제대로 보이지 않으실 때, 여러분은 그분을 신뢰하는 가운데 매달려 기다리겠습니까?

그분의 부성애 위에 드리운 그림자. 눅 11:11-13. 여러분의 아버지께서 마치 초자연적인 아버지, 무정하고 무관심한 분인 것처럼 나타나실 때가 있을 것이라고 예수님께서 이르십니다. 그러나 그런 분이 아니라는 걸 기억하세요. “구하는 사람은 누구나 받는다.”고 내가 여러분에게 말했습니다. 만일 지금 당장 아버지의 얼굴이 그림자로 가려졌다면 그분께서 궁극적으로는 자신을 명확하게 드러내시고 그분께서 약속하셨던 모든 것을 이루실 것임을 굳게 붙드세요.

그분의 신실함의 기묘함. 눅 18:1-8. “그러나 인자가 올 때에 세상에서 믿음을 보겠느냐?” 혼란에도 불구하고 그분을 의지하는 믿음을 그분이 보게 되실까요? 하나님께서 행하고 계시는 것을 당분간은 여러분이 이해하지 못하겠지만 예수님께서 이르신 말씀이 진실하다는 것을 믿고 믿음 가운데 멀리 떨어져 지켜보세요. 그분께는 여러분이 구하는 특별한 것들보다 위험에 처해 있는 더 중요한 문제들이 기다리고 있습니다.

 

오오 주님, 오늘 제가 주님의 이름으로 말을 해야 합니다. 그런데

제가 지금까지 감동이 없고 영감을 받지 못했습니다. 만일 저의 영적

침체 가운데서 주님께서 주님의 마음을 제게 전해주실 수 있다면 오오,

아무쪼록, 그리하옵소서.
