CAN A SAINT SLANDER GOD?

“For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him

                                                 Amen."

                                                                                                                         2 Corinthians 1:20

 

   Jesus told the parable of the talents recorded in Matthew 25 as a warning that it is possible for us to misjudge our capacity. This parable has not to do with natural gifts, but with the Pentecostal gift of the Holy Ghost. We must not measure our spiritual by education or by intellect; our capacity in spiritual things is measured by the promises of God. If we get less than God wants us to have, before long we will slander Him as the servant slandered his master: "You expect more than You give me power to do; You demand too much of me, I cannot stand true to You where I am placed." When it is a question of God's Almighty Spirit, never say "I can't." Never let the limitation of natural ability come in. If we have received the Holy Spirit, God expects the work of the Holy Spirit to be manifested in us.

   The servant justified himself in everything he did and condemned his lord on every point—"Your demand is out of all proportion to what you give." Have we been slandering God by daring to worry when He has said: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"? Worrying means exactly what this servant implied―"I haven't had a decent chance," and the one who is lazy spiritually is captious with God. Lazy people always strike out on an independent line.

   Never forget that our capacity in spiritual matters is measured by the promises of God. Is God able to fulfill His promises? Our answer depends on whether we have received the Holy Spirit.

 

   O Lord, be very present today—the great joyous

   presence of the Holy Ghost permeating everywhere.

성도가 하나님을 비방할 수 있는가?

“하나님의 약속은 얼마든지 그리스도 안에서 예가 되니

                                                   그런즉 그로 말미암아 우리가 아멘하여”

                                                                                                                                고린도후서 1:20

 

   마태복음 25장에 기록된 달란트 비유는 우리의 능력을 우리가 오판할 수 있다는 경고로써 예수님께서 말씀하신 것이다. 달란트의 비유는 타고난 재능과는 관련이 없고 오순절의 성령의 선물과 관련이 있다. 우리의 영적 능력을 교육 또는 지능으로 판단하면 안 된다. 영적인 일에 관한 우리의 능력은 하나님이 주신 약속들에 의해서 평가된다. 만일 하나님께서 소유하기를 우리에게 요구하시는 것보다 우리가 적게 획득하면 오래 가지 않아 종이 주인을 비방했던 것처럼 우리가 주님을 비방할 것이다. “당신이 하라고 제게 주신 능력보다 더 많이 기대하시는군요. 당신은 제게 너무 많이 요구하십니다. 제 입장에서 당신에게 진실하게 설 수 없습니다.” 그것이 하나님의 전능하신 영에 관한 문제일 때는 “나는 할 수 없다”고 절대로 말하지 말라. 타고난 능력의 제한을 핑계로 삼지 말라. 만일 우리가 성령을 받았다면 하나님께서는 성령의 역사가 우리 안에서 나타나기를 기대하신다.

   이 종은 그가 행한 모든 것에서 자신을 정당화하고, “당신의 요구는 당신이 주는 것에 조금도 비례하지 않습니다.”라고 말하여 모든 점에서 자기 주인을 비난하였다. “너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라”(마 6:33)라고 주님께서 말씀하셨을 때 우리는 감히 염려하면서 하나님을 비방해오고 있는가? 염려하고 있다는 것은 “나에게는 적당한 기회가 없었습니다,”라고 말한 것과 다름 아니라고 이 종이 암시했다는 것을 정확하게 의미한다. 그러므로 영적으로 게으른 사람은 하나님께 심술궂다. 게으른 사람들은 항상 독자적으로 애매하게 학설을 발견한다.

   영적인 문제들에 있어서 우리의 능력은 하나님의 약속들에 의해서 평가된다는 점을 잊지 말라. 하나님께서 자신의 약속들을 성취하실 능력이 있는가? 우리의 대답은 우리가 성령을 받았는지의 여부에 달려 있다.

 

   오 주님, 오늘 모든 곳에 충만한 큰 기쁨으로

   임재하시는 성령으로 바로 오시옵소서.
