0307 UNDAUNTED RADIANCE=대담하게 찬연히 빛나는 기쁨의 광휘

 

UNDAUNTED RADIANCE

“Nay, in all these things, we are more than conquerors

        through Him that loved us.”

Romans 8:37

 

Paul is speaking of the things that might seem likely to separate or wedge in between the saint and the love of God; but the remarkable thing is that nothing can wedge in between the love of God and the saint. These things can and do come in between the devotional exercises of the soul and God and separate individual life from God; but none of them is able to wedge in between the love of God and the soul of the saint. The bedrock of our Christian faith is the unmerited, fathomless marvel of the love of God exhibited on the Cross of Calvary, a love we never can and never shall merit. Paul says this is the reason we are more than conquerors in all these things, super-victors, with a joy we would not have but for the very things which look as if they are going to overwhelm us.

The surf that distresses the ordinary swimmer produces in the surf-rider the super joy of going clean through it. Apply that to our own circumstances, these very things−tribulation, distress, persecution, produce in us the super joy; they are not things to fight. We are more than conquerors through Him in all these things, not in spite of them, but in the midst of them. The saint never knows the joy of the Lord in spite of tribulation, but because of it−“I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation,” says Paul.

Undaunted radiance is not built on anything passing, but on the love of God that nothing can alter. The experiences of life, terrible or monotonous, are impotent to touch the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

   Lord, I praise Thee for the joy of my life here−for the love

of wife and child, for the students, for the favours of the Holy Spirit.

What a wonder of joy and radiant blessing this place has been!

대담하게 찬연히 빛나는 기쁨의 광휘

“그러나 이 모든 일에 우리를 사랑하시는 이로 말미암아

               우리가 넉넉히 이기느니라.”

로마서 8:37

 

  바울은 성도와 하나님의 사랑을 갈라놓거나 방해할 가능성이 있는 것들에 대해서 말하고 있습니다. 그러나 분명한 것은 하나님의 사랑과 성도 사이를 완전하게 갈라놓을 수 있는 것은 아무것도 없다는 점입니다. 이러한 일들은 영혼의 헌신적인 사역과 하나님 사이로 끼어들 수도 있고 실제 끼여 들기도 하여 하나님으로부터 개인생활을 분리시키는 경우가 있는 것입니다. 그렇지만 그들 중에서 어떤 것도 하나님의 사랑과 성도의 영혼을 완전히 격리시켜 놓을 수 있는 것은 없습니다. 우리 크리스천의 믿음의 근거는 갈보리 십자가에서 예수님이 피 흘려 죽으신 측량할 수 없는 불가사의한 경이적인 사건을 통해 값없이 부어주신 하나님의 사랑 즉, 우리의 공에 따라 얻을 수도 없고 우리가 받을만한 가치가 있는 것도 아닌데 하나님께서 대가 없이 은혜로 우리에게 선물로 주신 하나님의 사랑인 것입니다. 마치 우리를 압도할 것처럼 보이는 바로 그러한 것들에 기쁨으로 도전하여 위대한 승리자가 됨으로써 이 모든 일에 우리가 넉넉히 이기는 것은 예수님의 십자가 보혈의 공로로 하나님께서 우리에게 부어주시는 바로 이 사랑 있기 때문이라고 바울이 말합니다.

평범하게 수영을 하는 사람에게 고통이 되는 파도는 파도 타기를 즐기는 사람에게는 그 파도를 통과하는 굉장한 기쁨을 안겨줍니다, 그러한 이치를 우리 상황들에 적용해보십시오. 환난과 고통과 박해와 같은 이러한 것들이 우리 안에 특별한 기쁨을 만들어냅니다. 그것들은 우리가 싸워야 할 대상들이 아닙니다. 그것들에도 불구하고가 아니고 그것들 가운데서 이 모든 일에 우리가 넉넉히 이기는 자들이 되는 것입니다. 성도는 환난에도 불구하고 얻는 주님의 기쁨에 대해서는 아는 바가 없고 “내가 우리의 모든 환난 가운데서도 기쁨이 넘치는 도다.”(고후 7:4 참조)라고 바울이 말하는 것과 같이 오히려 환난 때문에 얻어지는 기쁨에 대해서 알고 있습니다.

대담하게 찬연히 빛나는 기쁨의 광휘는 지나가버리는 어떤 무엇을 기초로 해서 형성되는 것이 아니라 어떠한 것에 의해서도 바뀔 수 없는 하나님의 사랑을 근거로 하여 형성됩니다. 지독하거나 단조로운 생활의 체험들이 우리 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 사랑을 흐트러뜨릴 수 없습니다.

 

    주님, 제가 아내와 자녀의 사랑, 학생들, 성령의 은총들을 통해 이곳의

생활 속에서 누리는 기쁨으로 인해 주님을 찬양합니다. 환하게 밝은 기쁨의

축복을 통해 이곳에서 누리는 경이가 얼마나 대단한지요!
