WORK OUT WHAT GOD WORKS IN

“Work out your own salvation.”

                              Philippians 2:12

                                                                              

Your will agrees with God, but in your flesh there is a disposition which renders you powerless to do what you know you ought to do. When the Lord is presented to the conscience, the first thing conscience does is to rouse the will, and the will always agrees with God. Look to Jesus and you will find that your will and your conscience are in agreement with Him every time. The thing in you which makes you say “I shan’t” is something less profound than your will; it is perversity, or obstinacy, and they are never in agreement with God. The profound thing in man is his will, not sin. Will is the essential element in God’s creation of man: sin is a perverse disposition which entered into man. In a regenerated man the source of will is almighty, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” You have to work out with concentration and care what God works in; not work your own salvation, but work it out, while you base resolutely in unshaken faith on the complete and perfect Redemption of the Lord. As you do this, you do not bring an opposed will to God’s will, God’s will is your will, and your natural choices are along the line of God’s will, and the life is as natural as breathing. God is the source of your will, therefore you are able to work out His will. Obstinacy is an unintelligent “wadge” that refuses to be enlightened; the only thing is for it to be blown up with dynamite, and the dynamite is obedience to the Holy Spirit.

Do I believe that Almighty God is the source of my will? God not only expects me to do His will, but He is in me to do it.

 

Lord, lift me as I lift myself up to Thee. Give me the

light of Thy countenance that I may irradiate it back

to Thee.

내주하시는 성령의 역사를 완성하라

“너희 자신의 구원을 완성하라.”

                                                                                                                 빌립보서 2:12

 

당신의 의지는 하나님의 뜻에 동의한다. 그러나 마땅히 실천해야 할 당신의 의무로 알고 있는 것을 실천할 수 없게 만드는 성향이 당신의 육신 속에 존재한다. 주님께서 양심에 닿으실 때 양심이 첫 번째로 하는 일은 의지를 불러내는 것이다. 그런데 의지는 하나님과 항상 일치한다. 예수님을 바라보라 그러면 당신의 의지와 당신의 양심은 항시 주님과 일치함을 깨닫게 될 것이다. 당신 안에서 당신으로 하여금 “나는 할 수 없을 거야”라고 말하게 만드는 것은 당신의 의지보다는 무엇인가 통찰력이 떨어지는 것이다. 그것은 심술궂음 또는 고집으로서 하나님과 결코 일치하지 않는 것들이다. 사람 안에서 고상한 것은 죄가 아니라 그의 의지다. 하나님께서 사람을 창조하심에 있어서 본질적인 요소는 의지다. 죄는 사람 안에 들어온 심술궂은 성향이다. 중생한 사람 안에서 의지의 원천은 절대적인 힘을 가지고 있다. “당신 안에서 의지대로 그의 기쁘신 뜻대로 역사하시는 분이 하나님이심을 보아 알 수 있다.” 당신은 내주하시는 성령의 역사를 집중력과 주의를 기울여 완성해야 한다. 당신 자신의 구원을 얻기 위해 노력하지 말고, 흠 없고 점 없이 온전하게 완성된 주님의 구속에 대한 흔들림 없는 믿음에 굳건히 서서 은혜로 당신이 이미 받은 그 구원을 완성하라. 당신이 이와 같이 하게 됨에 따라 당신은 하나님의 뜻을 어기지 않게 되고 하나님의 뜻이 당신의 의지가 되어 당신의 꾸밈없는 선택들이 하나님의 뜻에 일치됨으로써 삶이 호흡처럼 용이해진다. 하나님은 당신 의지의 원천이다. 그러므로 당신은 하나님의 뜻을 성취할 수 있다. 고집은 영적 각성을 거부하는 어리석은 덩어리다. 그것을 다이너마이트로 폭파하는 것이 유일한 대응책이다. 이 다이너마이트는 성령께 순종하는 것이다.

하나님이 나의 의지의 원천임을 내가 믿는가? 하나님께서는 내가 그의 뜻을 행하기를 기대하실 뿐만 아니라 내 안에 내주하셔서 그걸 행하도록 역사하신다.

 

주님, 제가 자신을 주님 가까이 들어올리기 까지 도와주시옵소서.

주님 얼굴의 광채를 제게 주시어 그것을 주님을 향해 그 빛을 도로

제가 방사할 수 있게 하옵소서.
