WHAT NEXT?

“If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”

                                  John 13:17

 

Determine to know more than others. If you do not cut the moorings, God will have to break them by a storm and send you out. Launch all on God, go out on the great swelling tide of His purpose, and you will get your eyes open. If you believe in Jesus, you are not to spend all your time in the smooth waters just inside the harbour bar, full of delight, but always moored; you have to get out through the harbour bar into the great deeps of God and begin to know for yourself, begin to have spiritual discernment.

When you know you should do a thing, and do it, immediately you know more. Revise where you have become stodgy spiritually, and you will find it goes back to a point where there was something you knew you should do, but you did not do it because there seemed no immediate call to, and now you have no perception, no discernment; at a time of crisis you are spiritually distracted instead of spiritually self-possessed. It is a dangerous thing to refuse to go on knowing.

The counterfeit of obedience is a state of mind in which you work up occasions to sacrifice yourself; ardour is mistaken for discernment. It is easier to sacrifice yourself than to fulfill your spiritual destiny, which is stated in Romans 12:1-2. It is a great deal better to fulfill the purpose of God in your life by discerning His will than to perform great acts of self-sacrifice. “To obey is better than sacrifice.” Beware of harking back to what you were once when God wants you to be something you have never been. “If any man will do . . . he shall know”

 

Lord, my mind is dim in relation to persons. Be

Thou their strong tower; none seem to regard them or

care. Prevent the enemy from exacting on them. They

are as they are because of their loyalty to Thee. Lord,

undertake mightily.

다음은 무엇인가?

“너희가 이것을 알고 행하면 복이 있으리라.”

                                                                             요한복음 13:17

 

다른 사람들보다 더 많이 알도록 결심하라. 당신이 만일 정박시킨 밧줄들을 끊지 않으면 하나님께서 폭풍으로 그것들을 끊고 당신을 내보내셔야 할 것이다. 모두 하나님을 따라 진수하라, 크게 넘실대는 파도 속에 담긴 주님의 목적에 따라 나아가라. 그러면 당신의 안목이 열리게 될 것이다. 만일 당신이 예수님을 믿는다면 기쁨이 가득하여 그러나 항시 계류된 상태로 항구의 정박빗장 바로 안의 잔잔한 물 가운데서 당신의 시간 전부를 소비해서는 안 된다. 당신은 정박빗장을 통과해 하나님의 넓은 깊은 바다로 나아가 스스로 이해하고 영적 분별력을 얻기 시작해야 한다.

당신이 일을 해야 된다고 알고 그 일을 실행할 때, 즉시 당신은 더 많이 이해하게 된다. 당신이 영적으로 침체된 장소를 바꾸라. 그러면 무엇인가 당신이 해야 할 일이 있다고 당신이 알고 있었던 지점으로 돌아감을 발견하게 될 것이다. 그러나 즉각적인 소명이 없다고 생각되었기 때문에 당신이 그것을 실행하지 않았다. 그런데 지금은 당신에게 지각력도 분별력도 없다. 위기의 시간에 당신은 영적으로 침착하지 못하고 영적으로 산만한 상태에 놓여있다. 계속해서 이해력을 높여가는 것을 거부하는 것은 위험한 일이다.

당신 자신을 희생할 기회들을 만들어내는 마음상태는 순종을 위장하는 것이다. 열정을 분별력으로 혼동한다. 로마서 12장 1-2절에 기술된 바와 같은 당신의 영적 운명을 완수하는 것보다 당신 자신을 희생하는 것이 더 용이하다. 자기희생의 위대한 행위를 수행하는 것보다 주님의 뜻을 분별함으로써 당신의 삶에서 하나님의 목적을 달성하는 것이 훨씬 더 잘하는 일이다. “순종이 제사보다 낫다”(삼상 15:22). 하나님께서 당신이 체험한 적이 한번도 없는 무엇인가 어떤 존재가 되기를 당신에게 바라실 때 옛날의 상태로 되돌아가지 않도록 조심하라. “만일 어떤 사람이 행하려 하면…그는 알게 되리라.”

 

주님, 사람들에 관하여 제 마음이 분명치 않습니다. 주님께서

그들의 든든한 요새가 되어주시옵소서. 그들을 존중하거나 돌볼

생각을 하는 사람이 아무도 없는 것 같습니다. 적이 그들을 강압하지

못하도록 막아주시옵소서. 주님에 대한 그들의 충성 때문에 현재 모습

그대로 그들은 소중한 존재들입니다. 주님, 잘 보살펴 주시옵소서.
