THE SPIRITUAL SOCIETY

“Till we all come . . . unto the measure of the stature of the

                                fulness of Christ.”

                                                                                                            Ephesians 4:13

 

Rehabilitation means the putting back of the whole human race into the relationship God designed it to be in, and this is what Jesus Christ did in Redemption. The Church ceases to be a spiritual society when it is on the lookout for the development of its own organization. The rehabilitation of the human race on Jesus Christ’s plan means the realization of Jesus Christ in corporate life as well as in individual life. Jesus Christ sent apostles and teachers for this purpose—that the corporate Personality might be realized. We are not here to develop a spiritual life of our own, or to enjoy spiritual retirement; we are here so to realize Jesus Christ that the Body of Christ may be built up.

Am I building up the Body of Christ, or am I looking for my own personal development only? The essential thing is my personal relationship to Jesus Christ—“That I may know Him. “ To fulfill God’s design means entire abandonment to him. Whenever I want things for myself, the relationship is distorted. It will be a big humiliation to realize that I have not been concerned about realizing Jesus Christ, but only about realizing what He has done for me.

My goal is God Himself, not joy nor peace,

Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God.

Am I measuring my life by this standard or by anything less?

 

O Lord, I do praise Thee for the mighty lines of

thought that come as I think of membership in Thy

mystical Body. How I long to be quickened enough to

realize the wonder of it more.

영적인 사회

“우리가 다…그리스도의 장성한 분량이

                                충만한 데까지 이르리니.”

                                       에베소서 4:13

 

형상 회복은 하나님께서 예정하신 관계 속으로 전 인류를 되돌려 놓는 것을 의미한다. 이것은 예수 그리스도께서 구속 안에서 이루신 것이다. 교회는 교회 조직의 발전을 위해 경계하고 있을 때 영적인 사회가 되는 것을 중단한다. 예수 그리스도의 계획에 따라 인류를 회복하는 것은 개인적인 삶은 물론 공동체 삶에서 예수 그리스도를 실현함을 의미한다. 예수 그리스도는 이 목적 즉 공동체적 인격이 실현될 수 있도록 하기 위해 사도들과 선생들을 보내셨다. 우리는 우리 자신의 영적인 삶을 개발하거나 영적인 은퇴를 즐기기 위해 여기 있는 게 아니다. 그리스도의 몸이 세워질 수 있도록 예수 그리스도를 실현하기 위해 우리가 여기 있는 것이다.

내가 그리스도의 몸을 세우고 있는 중인가? 그렇지 않으면 나 자신의 개인적 발전만 찾고 있는 중인가? “내가 그를 알려고 하여”라는 예수 그리스도에 대한 나의 개인적 관계가 본질적인 것이다. 하나님의 예정을 수행하기 위해서라 함은 그를 향해 철저하게 포기함을 의미한다. 나 자신을 위해 일하기를 내가 원할 때는 언제든지 관계가 뒤틀린다. 예수 그리스도를 실현함에 관해서는 내가 관심을 두지 않았고 그가 나를 위해 무엇을 해주셨는가를 자각하는 일에만 관심이 있었음을 깨닫는 건 큰 수치가 될 것이다.

나의 목표는 희락이 아니고 평강도 아니며 하나님 자신이다.

축복 조차도 아니다. 다만 그 자신 나의 하나님이다.

내가 나의 삶을 이 기준 또는 더 적은 무엇인가로 측정하고 있는 중인가?

 

오 주님, 당신의 신비한 몸 안에 있는 일원이라고 제가 생각할 때

발생하는 절대적인 능력의 사상으로 인해 주님을 찬양합니다.

충분히 되살아나서 그것의 경이를 더 자각하기를 제가 얼마나

갈망하는지요.
