WHEREBY SHALL I KNOW?

 “I thank Thee, O Father…because Thou hast hid these

things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them

                               unto babes.”

                                                                                              Matthew 11:25

 

In spiritual relationship we do not grow step by step; we are either there or we are not. God does not cleanse us more and more from sin, but when we are in the light, walking in the light, we are cleansed from all sin. It is a question of obedience, and instantly the relationship is perfected. Turn away for one second out of obedience, and darkness and death are at work at once.

All God’s revelations are sealed until they are opened to us by obedience. You will never get them open by philosophy or thinking. Immediately you  obey, a flash of light comes. Let God’s truth work in you by soaking in it, not by worrying into it. The only way you can get to know is to stop trying to find out and by being born again. Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up. one reads tomes on the work of the Holy Spirit, when five minutes of drastic obedience would make things as clear as a sunbeam. “I suppose I shall understand these things some day!” You can understand them now. It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will never reveal what you know already. Beware of becoming “wise and prudent.”

 

I would, O Lord, cleanse myself from all defilement

of flesh and spirit, from every coarsening of the fibre

of the spiritual life, so that I may dwell in Thee in

fullness of joy.

어떻게 내가 알 수 있을까?

“오 아버지여…이것을 지혜롭고 슬기 있는 자들에게는

숨기시고 어린 아이들에게는 나타내심을 감사하나이다.”

                                            마태복음 11:25

 

영적 관계에 있어서 우리는 단계적으로 성장하지 않는다. 우리가 거기에 있든지 없든지 둘 중 하나다. 하나님께서는 우리를 죄로부터 점차 더욱 더 깨끗게 하시는 것이 아니다. 그러나 우리가 빛 가운데 있어 빛 가운데 행할 때 우리는 모든 죄로부터 깨끗해진다. 그것은 순종의 문제다. 그리고 즉시 관계가 완전해진다. 일초라도 순종에서 벗어나보라. 그러면 어둠과 사망이 즉시 활동한다.

모든 하나님의 계시들은 순종을 통해 우리들에게 열려질 때까지는 봉인되어 있다. 당신은 철학이나 사상을 통해 결코 그들을 열 수 없을 것이다. 당신이 순종하는 즉시 번쩍하는 빛이 나타난다. 걱정하면서 들어가지 말고 그 빛 속에 흠뻑 잠김으로써 하나님의 진리가 당신 안에서 역사하게 하라. 당신이 알기 위해 취할 수 있는 유일한 방법은 찾아내려고 노력하는 것을 멈추고 거듭남을 통해서다. 주님께서 당신에게 보여주시는 중요한 일에서 하나님께 순종하라. 그러면 즉시 그 다음 것이 개방된다. 한 사람이 성령의 사역에 관한 큰 책 성경을 읽는다. 그 성경을 읽을 때 5분간만 철저히 순종하여 읽으면 사물이 태양 광선처럼 명료하게 이해된다. “어느 날 이러한 것들을 내가 이해할 수 있으리라고 나는 생각해!” 이제 그들을 당신은 이해할 수 있다. 이해할 수 있게 만드는 것은 공부가 아니고 순종이다. 조금만 순종하면 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 가장 심오한 진리들이 즉시 당신의 것이 된다. 당신이 이미 알고 있는 것을 하나님께서 결코 드러내시지 않을 것이다. “지혜롭고 슬기롭게” 되는 것을 조심하라.

 

오 주님, 제가 기쁨이 충만한 가운데 주님 안에 거하려고 육신과

영혼의 더럽힘을, 영적 삶의 거친 성격을 내 자신으로부터 없애고자

합니다.
